Documentation Search Tools#

Use the search_* tools to search OneTick documentation by topic or natural language question. Each tool covers a different documentation set; pass a query string and get back the most relevant passages.

When to use

search_python-docs

Search the onetick-py library API reference. Use when looking up classes, methods, parameters, or return types.

search_python-examples

Search practical onetick-py usage examples. Use when looking for how to accomplish a specific task with the library.

search_cloud_coverage

Search OneTick Cloud coverage documentation. Use when checking which exchanges, instruments, or data types are available.

search_sql-docs

Search OneTick SQL documentation. Use when constructing SQL queries or looking up SQL syntax and built-in functions.

Data source#

Each search_* tool is backed by a named collection — a document set indexed from a documentation source. OneTick Cloud users get the bundled collections out of the box (see Download documentation sources). For custom deployments, additional collections can be added — see Custom Search Tools.

The active set of collections is controlled by the COLLECTIONS setting — see Active collections.

Active collections#

The COLLECTIONS setting controls which search_* tools are registered. The default corresponds to the OneTick documentation sources indexed during the quickstart:

COLLECTIONS='["python-docs","python-examples","cloud","sql-docs"]'

To disable individual tools, start from the default and remove the collections you don’t need. For example, to disable sql-docs:

COLLECTIONS='["python-docs","python-examples","cloud"]'

To add your own documentation sources, see Custom Search Tools.
